Large Surface Area Bonding

Joining large surface area materials usually involves covering one or both surfaces with a thin, uniform coating of adhesive. These materials can include high-pressure laminates (HPL), foam, fabric, rubber, plastic film, cardboard, paper and other materials. These can be bonded to substrates made of metal, wood, plastics, glass, ceramic, concrete, and more. You would find these in applications that might include large fabric-covered wall panels, tabletop veneers, carpets, multi-layer foam mattresses, gaskets, signage, even trim details for vehicles.

Fabrico has the materialsadhesives and converting capabilities to help you select from:

  • solvent or water-based contact adhesives with a range of bonding strengths, curing times and viscosities
  • aerosol adhesives based on latex and neoprene adhesives for bonding light weight materials with a range of tack and bonding properties
  • sprayable hot melts that can be applied to one or both surfaces, reaches ultimate bond strength in seconds, and is ideal for lightweight substrate bonding – available also in low melt formulations
  • sealants that are high-solids, viscous adhesives that are used to flexibly adhere substrates and prevent air, gas, ultraviolet light, dust, moisture, and other intrusions
  • thin bonding tape systems have double-sided pressure sensitive adhesives to adhere mating surfaces with strengths that range from repositionable to permanent – ideal for applications that demand strength, flexibility and resistance to harsh environments
