ATLANTA, GA - JANUARY 18, 2010 - Atlanta, GA USA – EIS, distributor of materials, production supplies, and industrial MRO for manufacturing industries nationwide, has formed a strategic marketing agreement with 3M’s Renewable Energy Division. This formal working partnership will enable the companies to maximize their expertise in support of the fast-changing solar and wind power industries. Assisting EIS with materials converting requirements will be their Fabrico division, the leader in design and manufacturing services for flexible materials. Products marketed by the companies will include those invented for the renewable energy market, products adapted from existing technologies, as well as current products.
3M will offer sophisticated product solutions, including a variety of tapes, adhesives, and sealants that help reduce the cost of energy production. EIS and Fabrico will interface directly with customers to engineer custom product solutions that involve materials, prototyping, and manufacturing using materials from 3M.
3M and EIS/Fabrico have extensive experience in renewable energy markets. 3M pioneered solar films 25 years ago, when scientists first developed solar energy and mirror films. The company also has significant experience in developing products for long-term exposure to outdoor environments and has unmatched capabilities in weathering.
In the wind industry, 3M’s spray adhesives, abrasives, and safety products have been used to enhance manufacturing efficiency and safety.
EIS and Fabrico have taken the lead in developing custom solar product and manufacturing solutions for rigid silicon, thin film, and concentrator applications. Many of these solutions have incorporated a variety of 3M materials, from adhesives to films and die-cut foam parts.
